Apps developers have something to be excited about Motorola Droid and Nexus One. Google has announced that it will reward application developers who have apps in the Android Market with free Android phone.

To avail this new exciting offer from Google, any interested apps developers must have at least one app that have more than 5000 unique downloads and 3.5 star rating. The company is in severe catch-up with Apple stores, which has more than 140,000 apps. Google currently houses only 20,000 applications available in the Android Market. Although the number is quite enough for Android devices and users, Google will not succumb to the competition.

It may well be remembered that Google also gave Android phones to Adobe employees. The giveaways took place in a demonstration of the version of Flash for Google’s Android software as a respond to Apple’s CEO’s criticism of Flash. The plan is to ensure that employees are using the Android phones. Google has also been noted to give away Android phones to an audience of CIO at an event for Google Apps plus unlimited 3G access and talk time for a whole month. The company also plays the Santa Clause when it gave away I/O participants HTC Magic, another Android-powered phone which houses Google Services.

Google has more tricks up its sleeves. Although closure of Nexus One has already taken place, the android phone is being round-up as the next Google Developer Phone. That means any developer registered as an Android developer will be able to buy the phone directly from Google, unblocked and not tied to any single carrier. This is being done to provide Android developers access to the Android operating system without interference from any third-party group.

Google both powered Motorola Droid and Nexus One with a number of pre-installed software and applications. The Droid is currently running Android 2.1 and is expected to be one of the first devices to run Android 2.2, the newest upgrade to Google’s Android operating system. Some of the Google Apps included in both the Motorola Droid and Nexus One are Google Map Navigation system, Google Calendar, Gmail, Youtube, and Amazon MP3 Store. The Motorola Droid in particular does not run MotoBlur interface and uses Google Experience skin and application stack as interface.

Google may give away free Android phones like a party souvenir but the company has been giving away freebies to its loyal and hardworking employees for the past few years. The free android phones for developers are a thank you for its deserving developer community. Boosting the performance of the team is also part of the strategy, as well as to attract new and interested application developers to join Google’s elite team.
