Chuck’s Challenge Review
by on June 15, 2012
If you had a PC in the ’90s and didn’t play 2D puzzler Chip’s Challenge, you were doing it all wrong. Thankfully, you can make reparations with this, a recently updated pseudo-sequel from the same level designer, Chuck Sommerville.
The slightly self-referential concept at play here is that Chuck’s been kidnapped by an alien called Woop, who gets him to design more levels. The first 25 are free, with a further three sets of 25 – ranging from simple to tricksy – available at 69p a pop.
With a nice mix of races against both time and monsters, puzzles that require real thought, a level creator, and access to tons of user-created levels, this is one aspect of the ’90s well worth revisiting.
